Planning by occasion
How different events are planned in Lahore
Each occasion brings its own guests, timings and traditions. Here is what changes from one type of event to the next, so you know what to think about first.
Wedding functions
A shadi is usually several events: mayun and dholki nights at home, a mehndi, the nikkah, the barat and the walima. Each needs its own look and schedule, but the guests should feel one wedding from start to finish. Indoor functions at halls and marquees end by 10 pm under Punjab's rules, so the schedule is planned backwards from that time.
Family celebrations
Birthdays, engagements, milads and aqiqah gatherings are often held at home. The planning is mostly about space: where the stage or cake table goes, how guests move between rooms, where elders sit and how much power the lights and sound need.
Company events
Conferences, seminars, annual dinners, iftars and exhibitions run to a printed agenda. Registration, AV checks, speaker timings and branding matter more than florals, and HR teams need a clear proposal and invoice. These usually need four to eight weeks of lead time.
